Term 1 2024

What a busy term! We travelled far and wide to ensure exposure for as many students as possible. Numerous trips to Francistown for galas, athletics meetings and cricket matches. We also travelled to Gaborone with 31 swimmers (the most, so far, in the Northern team) for the North vs South swimming gala. We hosted the Northern cricket trials and the North vs South Cricket Tournament, galas and volleyball games. We say congratulations to Steph Kyriacou on her appointment as a Northern swimming coach. Mr Bucks assisted with the swimming in Gaborone, and is the Northern Cricket Team’s manager. Four of our boys were selected for the Northern cricket team. Well done to them, as well!

Once again, we thank all parents for their support and effort. A few new faces were seen around the pool and next to the cricket field. Welcome to the world of travel for school events.

Thank you to the businesses that sponsored our North vs South Cricket Tournament. Your valued support is greatly appreciated. Your support and generosity allows us to plan and manage large-scale school events here in Maun, effectively.

Besides the lack of rain, the grounds remain well attended by the grounds staff. Thank you to all staff who assisted to keep the field in a reasonable condition for the North vs South cricket matches held recently.

The PTA hosted a successful Bingo evening here at school to get the fundraising ball rolling. Thank you to the PTA for the 100 Club, gala, cricket and play support. Everything you do for us is always appreciated.

We again contributed towards community charities including MAWS and Mummy’s Angels.

The Rhino Class hosted the annual “Rock Your Socks” event which turned out to be a great success. Diversity, inclusion and thankfulness were themes that were promoted. We even had a drone film us!

As usual, the play was a wonderful success and we thank Elaine, Lesego and Jenny for their dedication towards cultural events here at Matshwane.

We welcomed our new accountant, Botlhe, during the term. We wish you a long and happy stay with us Botlhe!

Best wishes to two staff members getting married during the holidays. Harmony and Ariane – all the best for your future married life!

To our generous Matshwane community – we thank you for your time, effort, donations, sponsorships and support. You are making a difference!

Matshwane College

Expansion to Secondary Education

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we Identified the need to support older students who could no longer travel for their education. With this in mind, we established a secondary school in 2021, welcoming our first intake of 16 students. Our vision was to create a unique educational experience catering for our everchanging world through a unique approach to teaching and learning.

As a fully registered Cambridge International school and a certified Cambridge Assessment centre, we will offer Lower Secondary and IGCSE. We will be introducing AS levels from2025. Matshwane College is registered with the Botswana Ministry of Education, the Independent Schools Association Botswana (ISAB), and the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa.

Matshwane Pre-school

Our pre-school enrolment is for 4 and 5 year olds. They have their own mini-campus and are a feeder school for our primary school. They have access to the school pool, ICT lab and other facilities, not usually associated with pre-schools. Their day starts at 08:00 and ends at 12:30. The school is licensed through the local council and complies with their requirements. The school is inspected annually. We believe that learning through play, structured and unstructured, is vital for optimum educational, emotional and social development.
